A little history...
South Carolina began this series of conferences on trails back in 1998 under the direction of Dr. Gene Wood of Clemson University. Since then it has grown into the event that it has become today with over 200 participants from 13 states. The South Carolina Horsemen's Council is proud to be hosting this event in our state in 2008.
The SETC is a conference for equestrian trails users and those who must manage and maintain these equestrian trails, both publicly and privately owned. These conferences serve to educate us on how to build, sustain, and improve our trails systems for equestrian usage. We are also able to address issues or conflicts between users and trails managers so that we can work on ways to resolve these issues. These conferences allow us to network and share solutions to many of the trails related problems facing all of us today and allow us to lay the foundation for the availability of good trails systems for generations to come. We encourage all equestrians and trails managers to attend the upcoming conference to exchange information and ideas with others who have similar interests.
The event in 2008, promises to be one of interest to equestrians, public land managers, and private land owners. It will focus on how to enhance and sustain this form of outdoor recreation for current and future equestrians. Not only will this conference be informative on equestrian trails, but the coastal resort area of Charleston provides numerous opportunities for recreational, entertainment, and historical pursuits for the entire family.
